REID, KEHOE & SMITH NAMED ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Rugby 7s player Abby Reid, golfer Rorey Kehoe and soccer player Kellee Smith are this week's Lancer Athletes of the Week

Reid, a local talent from Stirling, ON, scored tries in two of her team's three games at a tournament in Ottawa hosted by the Algonquin Wolves. 
In their first match of the day, Reid was one of 6 Lancers to make their way across the try line to secure a dominant 38-10 victory over the Fleming Phoenix. Then, after a tough 15-5 loss to the SLC Surge, Reid and her team finished out the day in an all-out battle with the Wolves.  Reid came through for the Lancers in a big way when she scored her second try of the tournament in the final seconds of the game to push to a 12-12 final decision, leaving the Lancers with a 1-1-1 record on the day. 

Kehoe turned in a season high performance at Niagara Knights Invitational Golf tournament at Ussher's Creek Golf Course. 
Kehoe, who competed with the Lancers during the 2022-2023 exhibition season, finished tied for 17th of 47 golfers and shot 8 over par for a final score of 80. This marks the first top 20 finish for a Lancer golfer since the inception of the program at the start of the school year.
After a solid start with a birdie on the 2nd, Kehoe had to scramble on the 6th hole taking him out of his even par position on the leaderboard.  Throughout the round, Kehoe made 10 pars and 1 birdie, entering a final score of 80, a 9 shot improvement from his first tournament.

A veteran athlete, Smith had particularly strong outing against the George Brown Huskies on Friday, September 29th. 

Smith, who played rugby previously for the Lancers before returning to school and switching sports, brings leadership, composure and grit every time she steps on the field. The 5'6" midfielder from Belleville, ON plays tough at both ends and never gives up. Her speed, agility and toughness make her a fierce defender and a strong offensive force.
