TERWILLEGAR & HILL NAMED ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

TERWILLEGAR & HILL NAMED ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Two Lancer volleyball players have been named Freshii Athletes of the Week after tremendous performances in the home openers for both the women's and men's teams over the weekend.

The women's team kicked off their season with a pair of big wins over the Georgian Grizzlies and Canadore Panthers to go 2-0 out of the gates. Fifth year league veteran, Allyson Terwillegar was a key part of the team's success. Terwillegar contributed 14 points in the team's first game against the Grizzlies and another 17 against the Panthers on Sunday for an impressive total of 31 points in only 8 sets. The 5'9" outside hitter's elite skill set, coupled with her extensive competitive experience make for a dynamic player. Terwillager is an offensive threat regardless of her position on the court and supports her team with inspired defence & tough serving.

First year Lancer, Liam Hill made his post-secondary, regular season debut over the weekend. After a tough matchup against the Grizzlies, the 6'4" outside hitter lit-up the gym on Sunday with an astounding 25-point performance against the Canadore Panthers. Hill led his team with 20 kills and 5 aces in only his second OCAA match. After losing the first set, Hill led the charge with a comeback to win the second and fourth sets to force a fifth. Despite continuing to generate a tough offense, the Lancers dropped the fifth set 15-8 to fall 3-2 to the Panthers.

Hill, who comes to the Lancers from Stratford, ON, showed off an impressive scoring ability and range of shots that provides an extra element of power and depth to the Lancers' offence.

Congratulations Allyson & Liam!
