Throughout his illustrious 36-year career, Jim Buck has become the cornerstone on which the Athletics Department and the Loyalist Lancers are built.

A passionate advocate for quality student athlete experiences, women in sport and the importance of having strong moral character, Jim has been a leader on campus and throughout the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association for the duration of his career. There is no way to adequately capture Jim's true and full impact on Lancers Athletics and the student athletes, staff, league officials, referees and colleagues.

Jim has worked tirelessly for decades to elevate the facilities, supports, abilities and offerings available to student athletes at Loyalist College. Jim has been instrumental in developing the Lancers’ reputation for hosting first rate tournaments, events and OCAA Championships. He set the bar when it comes to departmental leadership at the college and was a constant source of kindness, laughter and guidance for student athletes, colleagues and staff. His incredible leadership is only rivaled by his character, and his legacy will live on through the thousands of people who are fortunate enough to have been touched by his genuine nature.

Jim’s impact can be felt far beyond the walls of Loyalist College. With almost 40 years of experience in the OCAA, his league knowledge and experience has made him a frequent sounding board for members from across the province. He convened more than six different sports and has held multiple volunteer positions within the OCAA, including serving as Vice-President Finance on the OCAA Senior Leadership Committee. Jim was honoured with an induction to the OCAA Hall of Fame in 2023 for his leadership and commitment to quality student-athlete experiences.
