LANCERS GO 2-0 ON HOME OPENER WEEKEND

The Lancer's men's basketball team improved their record to 3-0 with a pair of wins over the weekend to kick off their season at home.

Facing off against the Georgian Grizzlies, the home team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Lancers maintained an energy and intensity throughout the game that the Grizzlies couldn't overcome. Showing off great ball movement and a dynamic offense, the Lancers had 7 players crack double digits in the win. Fourth year player Akim Rout led the game in scoring with 18 points followed closely by rookie sensation, Ebenezer Teklezgi with 16. Fellow rookie, Brodie Byford went 5-7 from the line and 3-4 from the field, earning his first career double double with 11 points and rebounds.

The Lancers cruised to a 106-71 decision for their second win of the season.

They were back at it again Saturday but this time playing host to the Centennial Colts.

Again, the Lancers got off to a strong start by scoring 34 points in the first quarter to create an 18 point gap.

Second year player Bobby Buck was exceptional at both ends of the court and combined for 23 points on the weekend. Ruot turned in another great performance and was the game high scorer with 24 points while fellow veteran Angelo Sarsonas added 23 of his own. Impressive numbers aside, Sarsonas' contributions went far beyond the scoreboard. His ability to control the floor and the flow of the game were evident every minute he played.

The Lancers look to make it four wins in a row when they travel to Toronto to take on the Seneca Sting on Friday November 1st.
