LANCERS TAKE DOWN LORDS

LANCERS TAKE DOWN LORDS

It took extra time, but the Lancers pulled out a hard fought 91-87 win against the Durham Lords to improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Lancers outscored the Lords 23-19 in the first quarter and maintained the lead through the half.
The Lords battled back and brought the game within 1 to start the fourth and took the lead with 5 minutes to go in the quarter.

Veteran player Akim Rout came up clutch for the Lancers in the final minutes of the game, taking his 3rd charge of the night before throwing down a monster dunk to put the Lancers within 2. Fellow veteran player Jeremiah Brown nabbed a defensive rebound and tossed a long ball to first year player Ebenezer Teklezgi to tie the game. Brown came through again with a huge dunk of his own to put the Lancers up 1 with only minutes left on the clock.

The back and forth battle for the lead came down to the final seconds of the game with the Lancers up 83-82 and the Lords at the foul line for two. The Lancers caught a break when the Lords went 1-2 at the line and tied the game 83-83 to force overtime.

The Lancers held the Lords scoreless for the first half of overtime and outscored them 8-4 to win the game 91-87.

Brown was the game high scorer with an impressive 31 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal while Rout earned a double double with 14 rebounds and 13 points.

The Lancers look to improve on their record Friday night in Kingston when they take on the St. Lawrence Vikings.
