LANCERS FALL 71-68 TO HUSKIES
The Lancers returned to their home court Saturday afternoon when they hosted the George Brown Huskies in the final Huskies/Lancers matchup of the weekend.
Getting off to a great start, the Lancers shot the ball well through the first quarter but struggled against the Huskies defensive adjustments and pressure in the second. Tough defense forced the home team into tough shots that didn't fall and found themselves trailing 54-49 at the end of the third quarter.
Led by Katrel Johnson and Bobby Buck, the Lancers turned in a great defensive performance. However, too many turnover and offensive mistakes saw the Lancers trailing by 8 with less than 60 seconds left in the game. First year Lancer Georgi Nedyalkov hit a big 3 to bring the Lancers within 5 with 11 seconds left on the clock. Lancers were forced to foul and the Huskies made 1 of 2 at the line. Nedyalkov hit another late 3 to push the final score to 71-68 in favour of the Huskies.
Nedyalkov was the game high scorer with 27 points and adding 9 rebounds and first year Lancer Steve Jones recorded a double-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds and a steal.
With the exhibition season completed, the Lancers look ahead to the regular season in January with their first game back on January 7, 2022.
