LANCER BASKETBALL ADDS KING

LANCER BASKETBALL ADDS KING

The Loyalist Lancers are excited to announce the commitment of Elijah King to the men's basketball program.

A 6'1 guard from North Vancouver, British Columbia, King is a graduate of Handsworth Secondary School and played competitively with 3D Basketball Academy and Rain City Basketball Club. He was named a championship All-Star at the Western Canadian Tournament where his team made it to the Championship finals.

Team Head Coach, Kevin McGuire, feels that King's abilities and knowledge will be a major asset to the team. "Eli has been very well coached in his high school and club ball programs, which is evident in his knowledge of the game. He is an excellent defender with a great understanding of team defence. He will help improve the outside shooting of the team as his shooting percentage from the 3-point line would rival some of the best shooters in the league."

After careful consideration and research, King made the choice to move across the Country to attend Loyalist College for a number of reasons. "One of the reasons I chose Loyalist was the small classroom sizes which nurture individual attention" he says. "I felt this was a draw because it would help with the balance of academic achievement while being committed to the team. I love that Loyalist has a strong school spirit and love for the game of basketball, which was apparent as soon as I started researching the school. I'm excited to be a part of Ontario's basketball scene and feel that Loyalist will be the perfect place to develop as a player and a person."

With a number of players returning from the 2021-22 season and with the addition of King, Coach McGuire and his coaching staff look to have a strong roster for the upcoming season.

Anyone interested in playing for the Lancers is asked to complete the Prospective Athlete Form.
