LANCERS DROP HOME OPENER 3-1

The men's volleyball team dropped their first match of the season in a 4 set battle with the La Cite Coyotes in the team's home opener Friday night.

The Lancers got off to a great start, matching the Coyotes point for point and showing off plenty of potential for the upcoming season. Dropping the first set by only 2 points (26-24) the Lancers failed to regain their footing in the second set and fell behind two games to none.

The third set saw a different side to the Lancers - a side with drive, passion, intensity and unity. The guys improved every aspect of the game and challenged the tough Coyotes with aggressive serves, big digs on defense and rock solid serve recieve. The Lancers earned the biggest point spread of the day with a 25-17 third set victory to force a fourth set.

The Coyotes came back in the fourth and shut down the Lancers 25-18 to take the game 3-1.

First year Lancer Caleb Seguin showed off his impressive abilities in his inaugural OCAA game. The 6'4 Photojournalism student dominated the right side of the court with big swings and even bigger blocks. Using a range of shots, Seguin recorded 9 kills in the match to become one of the top scorers on the team.

Returning Lancer Alex Cox lead the team in scoring with 11 kills 1 block and 1 ace for 13 total points and was a key factor in the team's offense. Cox, a 5'11 outside hitter was dynamic from the left side, using a combination of aggression and intelligence to get through the Coyotes blocks.

The Lancers get back in action when they hit the road on Friday for their first swing trip of the season. The first stop of the weekend is in Barrie to take on the Georgian Grizzlies then the Lancers face off against the Canadore Panthers in North Bay.
