MVB EARN 5 SET BATTLE OVER LORDS

MVB EARN 5 SET BATTLE OVER LORDS

The men's volleyball team kicked off 2019 in a big way with a hard fought 5 set win over the Durham Lords.

A battle from start to finish, the Lancers and Lords finished the first 4 sets of the game within 2 points of each other and went back and forth with the wins.
Durham took the first 25-23 before the Lancers answered back with a pair of  27-25 wins in the second and third sets to take the lead 2-1.
Unable to close out the game, the Lancers faltered in the middle of the fourth and gave the Lords the edge they needed to steal the set 25-23 and force a 5th set.

The home team dominated the first half of the 5th set and lead 8-1 at the switch thanks to tough serving and strong blocking. Not ones to be kept down, the Lords battled back and brought the game within 2 before losing the serve and sending the Lancers back to the line. With team captain Josh Roberts serving, the Lancers closed out the game and secured their second win of the year 15-12.

The Lancers get back in action on January 19th when they head to Ottawa for a swing trip against the Algonquin Thunder and La Cite Coyotes
