LANCERS ADD TRIO TO MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM
Head Coach Chris Jenkins and the Lancers are excited to announce the signing of a trio of talented volleyball players. Scott Collard, Angus Row and Murilo Sales de Oliveira will be joining Loyalist's men's volleyball program starting in September 2022.
Current teammates on the Kingston Rock Volleyball Club's 18U team, these athletes bring a range of talents to the program and have over 15 years of combined experience in the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA).
Row, a 6'3 middle, boasts a strong work ethic and high energy level that shows in every training session, practice and game. He's played in three OVA Provincial Championships (including a gold medal finish in 2019 with Kingston Volleyball Club) and the 2020 Kingston Area Secondary School (KASSA) final game with Holy Cross Catholic Secondary school.
Collard, who hails from Napanee, Ontario is joining the Lancers to take the three-year Business Administration – Accounting program. As an experienced setter with a strong mind for the game and positive court presence, Collard will be looked to to help lead the Lancers' growing offense. A players' player, Collard is a welcome addition to the squad.
Rounding out the trio is 5'10 outside hitter, Sales de Oliveira. Like his teammates, Sales de Oliveria was part of a gold medal OVA season in 2019 and has experience playing in the KASSA finals. Athletic, quick and powerful, he brings a strong offensive option to the Lancers' line up and is ready for the challenge of taking his game to the collegiate level.
"These three players are very excited to play at the next level" says Coach Jenkins. "Angus loves to learn the game and is very determined to be the best player he can be. Scott is eager to continue his development and Murilo doesn't back down from a challenge. I'm looking forward to working with these guys and have them be part of this team."
