LANCERS TAKE DOWN GRIZZLIES

The Lancers earned their first win of 2019 in a convincing 68-47 decision over the Georgian Grizzlies Saturday in Belleville.

Having gotten off to a solid start, the Lancers continued to grow throughout the game and turned in one of their best performances of the season. With sharp passes and smart plays, the now 4-6 team kept the Grizzlies scoring opportunities low with high intensity defence that resulted in an impressive 12 team steals.

Fresh off the Christmas break, the Lancers had multiple players step up and fill key roles that helped propel the team to victory.

First year stand out Kate Raso played phenomenal defence while Mariah Emmonds, also a first year, recorded a season high 11 rebounds. Local star Piper Kehoe showed off a side of her game that wasn't seen first semester and contributed 17 points to the win.

With a dominant first half under her belt, second year player Brittany Mason continued to impress, turning in her best performance yet. Going 7-8 from the line, Mason racked up 22 points and 14 rebounds for her 5th double-double of the season.

The Lancers travel to Toronto Tuesday night for a game against the Centennial Colts before playing host to the Algonquin Thunder on Friday January 18th.
