ARSENAULT REJOINS LANCERS AS HEAD COACH

ARSENAULT REJOINS LANCERS AS HEAD COACH

The Lancers are excited to announce local soccer aficionado, Derek Arsenault, as the new Head Coach of the Women's Soccer program.

With over 35 years of experience in the game and extensive involvement with Belleville Soccer Club (BSC), Quinte West Soccer Club (QWSC) and most recently the Trenton Sockers as their Division 1 Head Coach, Arsenault brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new squad. As the head official and board member for QWSC, Arsenault has made a name for himself in the local community, not only for his soccer prowess, but for his focus on fitness and overall wellness.

As a proud Lancer alumnus, Coach Arsenault's focus on building a strong program extends far beyond the field. "In just over two decades, Loyalist College has given me so much to be proud of," Arsenault says of his new position. "To represent the Lancer family as a former player and now Head Coach is such an awesome feeling. I'm proud and so excited to get started!"

In one of his first moves as Head Coach, Arsenault has assembled a strong team of assistants to round out his staff. Lead Assistant Coach Kyle Joy is a Loyalist grad with 20 years soccer playing experience as well as multi-year coaching experience. He has competed at a variety of levels including time spent at the University of Ottawa. Still an active and highly competitive athlete, he brings a specialty focus in coaching as a keeper. Joy looks to leverage his tenacity, grit and leadership as a player, in partnership with the entire coaching staff to help grow and develop the team.

Switching gears from player to Assistant Coach is recent graduate and Lancer, Kelsey Lawrence. Lawrence joined the team in 2022 after earning her degree from Brock University and immediately became a major part of the Loyalist community. Her passion for the College, high-level soccer knowledge, and dedication to the sport will be tremendous additions to the new coaching team.

Coach Arsenault and his team will be hosting training sessions throughout the summer with tryouts in August. Anyone interested in playing for the Lancers is asked to complete the Prospective Athlete Form to connected with coaching staff.
