LANCERS FALL IN 5 SET BATTLE

LANCERS FALL IN 5 SET BATTLE

The Lancers fell behind the Centennial Colts early in the game and despite tight scores, found themselves down 2 sets to start off the day.

Showing a whole different side of themselves in set 3, the Lancers finally found their footing and took the lead for the first time in the game. A combination of tough serves and aggressive attacks kept the leaders ahead. The Lancers never backed down on offense and continued to build on the momentum shift that lead to them taking a commanding lead in the 4th set.

Third year Lancer Alicia Orsborne adjusted well on defence to shut down the Colts offense while Raven Maracle lit up the front court with a mixture of huge attacks and smart shots.

Jillian Hoftyzer continued to be a dominant force at the net with multiple turning point blocks and moster kills that propelled the Lancers to a big 25-19 4th set victory.

Second year setter Lorraine Spellman lead a well executed offense that went against the flow of the pass and kept the Colts on their toes.

The 4-5 Lancers took the first two point of the 5th set before the Colts came back with a vengance. The deciding set went back and forth with neither team going ahead by more than 2 points until the very end when the Colts walked away with a 15-12 decision to take the game 3-2.

Maracle lead the Lancers in scoring with 14 kills, 2 blocks and an ace for a total 17 points.

With their final game of the semester in the books, the Lancers take a well deserved break until their first game of 2019 on Friday January 11th when they host the Durham Lords.
