WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ADD TO 2019 RECRUITING CLASS

  The newly appointed head coach of the Lancers' Women's Volleyball team, Ryan Stoness, has already begun to change the face of the program for September.  After the team's first training session over the weekend, 7 new athletes have committed to the Lancers program and will join the returning players for the 2019 season. Four Highly skilled athletes and current players in the Ontario Volleyball Association, including Aingele Campbell-Stewart, Caleigh Vonzuben, Megan Wheelans and Jordan Vandermeer, have committed to the team. In addition, a trio of local players made up of Victoria Langford (Campbellford, Ontario), Emma Lamorre (Picton, Ontario) and Lydia Carson (Marmora, Ontario) rounded out the commitments to this new Lancer Squad. 

               Coach Stoness and his newly assembled coaching staff are looking forward to getting into the gym with these athletes.  "I am extremely excited to make this announcement and to get to work with this new crop of excellence athletes, to welcome them to Loyalist and the proud history of the Loyalist Lancers Women's volleyball program"

Hailing from Kingston, Ontario, Aingele Campbell-Stewart is a hard-hitting offensive threat with a tough serve. The 5'8 left side attacker brings plenty of experience with her, having played for both the Kingston Volleyball Club (KVC) and her team at Frontenac Secondary School.

  Caleigh Vonzuben joins the Lancers after a final & graduating year with the Peterborough Thunder. Vonzuben, who comes from Clarington, Ontario, is a hardworking and persistent player who puts 100% into every part of her game.  With a strong serve and attack, the 5'9 athlete  brings a great attitude and skillset to the Lancer squad. 

A native on Barrie, Ontario, Megan Wheelans is a well rounded player that will be a wonderful addition to the team. The 5'8 athlete excels in all areas of the court; she's a fantastic passer on serve receive, has a solid swing at the net and possesses great command from the service line. Having played club with the Barrie Elites, Wheelans' bring a sense of experience and knowledge to the young Lancer team.

               Also coming from Kingston, Jordan (Jo) Vandermeer has played club for 7 years, having started out with the Pegasus Volleyball Club before moving to KVC. Vandermeer, who will be starting the Bachelors of Science in Nursing program at Loyalist, has an energetic personality that translates well to the court. An all-around solid player, Vandermeer bring a much needed defensive element to the team.

"We are lucky to have all 7 of these players join our squad for this coming season," Stoness continues. "Each brings a passion and commitment to the game and are completely dedicated to their own growth and future success of the this new Lancer Squad. We have lots of work ahead with so many rookies and fresh faces on this squad, but the future is looking promising for Loyalist Women's Volleyball".
