LANCERS START SEASON WITH A WIN

The Lancers earned a 4 set victory over the Centennial Colts in their first regular season game of the year.
 
Coming out strong in the first set, the Lancers cruised to a 25-15 victory for the early lead before the Colts fought back to take the second 29-27. 
 
Strong serving and less unforced errors put the Lancers back on top in the third, winning 25-14, then closing out the game with a 27-25 decision in the forth.
 
The Lancers showed tremendous improvement in the short period the team has been together. From improved defence to better control at the net, the Lancers have made huge strides early on this season.
 
First year Lancer Megan Wheelans ran a great offence, chasing down tough passes to put up solid sets all game long. Fellow first year Paula Bailey showed off her defensive abilities in the back row with consistent free ball and serve receive passing. Bailey added 5 kills, 3 aces and 10 digs to the win for a total of 8 points.
 
One of only two returning players to the young Lancers squad, Rachel Cole contribute solid offence from the right side with consistent, well placed attacks and aggressive blocks.
 
Aingele Campbell - Stewart was dominant from the service line with 4 aces and countless tough serves that causes scrambled plays from the visiting Colts. The first year outside player led her team in scoring with 8 kills for a total of 12 points.
 
With one win under their belts, the Lancers hit the road to take on the Durham Lords in Oshawa on Thursday October 24th.
