LANCERS BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN

LANCERS BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN

The Lancers put an end to a three game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Seneca Sting at home on Saturday.

The now 4-10 Lancers got out in front of the Sting in the first set and remained in the drivers seat until the final point. Showing vast improvement offensively, the Lancers played some of their best volleyball of the season. A more consistent and unpredictable attack forced the Sting into out of system plays that the Lancers were able to cycle back and score on.

Despite having held the lead for the majority of set 2, the Lancers found themselves on the losing side of a 27-25 decision after a late game push by the Sting. Not ready to quit, the Lancers came back with a vengeance and took the next two sets 25-21 to finish out the game.

First year Lancer Aingele Campbell- Stewart turned in an excellent offensive performance with total of 17 points. Her well placed attacks down the line were a game changer for the Lancers while her ability to mix thing up and place a heavy ball cross court, kept the Sting guessing.

Fellow first year and team setter Megan Wheelans ran an effective offense, recording a career high 34 assists while middles Ashley MacDonald and Caeleigh Von Zuben did a great job of slowing down the Sting's offense with solid blocking.

The Lancers are back in action at home Wednesday February 5th when they take on the top ranked Durham Lords at 6 PM.
