LANCERS CONTINUE TO ADD TALENT TO 2020 ROSTER

Loyalist College and the Lancers are excited to welcome dynamic middle, Sierra Scott (Newmarket, ON) to the women's volleyball program for the 2020-2021 season.

Scott, who stands at 5'9', joins the Lancers via Sir William Mulock Secondary School in her hometown of Newmarket. Playing for both the junior varsity and varsity teams, she garnered many tremendous honors along the way. With Sir William Mulock she was the captain of her senior varsity team and in grade 9 her junior varsity team placed second in the York Region Athletic Association.

Scott's impressive resume doesn't stop there as she has played for numerous club teams since the age of 13. In the 2018-19 season with Reach Prime, she finished 5th in Ontario and 5th at Nationals while competing in the Premier division - the highest division in the Ontario Volleyball Association. After qualifying for the coveted Grand Prix tournament for the top teams in the Province, Reach walked away with an impressive silver medal.

Coach Stoness is excited to have a player of Scott's caliber join the Lancers.  "We are extremely excited to have Sierra join our team next year. She's is a wonderful offensive and all around athlete and we are hopeful that she will make a significant contribution to our on court success next year." Her knowledge and expertice make her a wonderful addition to the growing Lancer squad. "I expect that she will be one of our go to offensive threats. She fits in amazingly well with our current squad and recruited athletes and we are proud to have her become part of the Lancer family next season!"

Scott will be studying Physiotherapy Assistant at Loyalist College in the fall. "I chose loyalist because when I toured the school I fell in love with it" says Scott. "When I heard there was a varsity volleyball team, it intrigued me and I wanted to go even more. The program looks excellent and I'm so excited to see what it has in store for me."

Sierra Scott joins Jessica Yantha, Natalie Hetherington, Brighton Matheson and Katie Burns as a quartet for women's volleyball recruits this offseason.
