LANCERS DEFEAT TOP RANKED HUSKIES

The OCAA game of the week was not a disappointment as it went into double overtime, with the Lancers pulling out a hard-fought 99-93 victory against the 7th best team in Canada.

From the start to the final whistle this game was a nail biter. It had 14 lead changes between the two teams and had 11 instances where it was a tie game. Loyalist's bench played a crucial role, contributing 30 key points to help secure the win.

The first quarter belonged narrowly to the Lancers, as each team traded baskets all quarter long with the Lancers up by two 22-20.

In the second quarter Loyalist shooting improved as they shot over 50 percent from both sides of the three-point line. Jeremiah Brown was lights out in the second quarter scoring all 9 of his points from behind the arc. After 20 minutes the Lancers held a slight 46-38 edge over the Huskies at the halfway mark.

Much like the first quarter the third narrowly belonged to the Lancers, as each team battling back and forth to try to hold the lead.

Loyalist struggled in the fourth as the Huskies put on the defensive pressure and ourscored the home team 22-12 in the quarter. Both teams had opportunities to close the game but came up short on key shots or committed untimely errors which forced a 79-79 overtime.

The first overtime period was just as competitive as the rest of the game, but didn't solve anything and forced a second round of extra time. The Lancers regrouped and came out strong, outscoring the Huskies 13-7 to push to 99-93 victory over the Nationall ranked team.

Veteran Lancer Jeremiah Brown went 12-of-19 from the floor for a game-high 32 points, while adding nine rebounds and two steals. Third-year guard Noah Korovesi chipped in with 19 points, including a huge, momentum shifting bucket to beat the shot clock at the end of the first over time. Ebenezer Teklezgi came off the bench and finished with 15 points.

The Lancers continue to push for a playoff position in the highly competitive east division. The Lancers will host their last regular-season game next Friday when they take on the St. Lawrence Vikings at 8 pm.
