LANCERS SIGN TWO

LANCERS SIGN TWO

The Lancers men's volleyball team is excited to announce the signing of Caleb Seguin & Jeremey Driedger for the upcoming 2018/19 season.

Hailing from Pickering Ontario, Seguin comes to the team after a brief hiatus from volleyball. The 6'4 outside hitter not only brings a physical presence to the court but a level of maturity and quiet leadership that will be a welcome addition to the team.

Head Coach Chris Jenkins appreciates Sequin's dedicated work ethic. "Caleb's drive and determination really set him apart from his competitors.  He wants nothing more than to be the best player he can be, and is doing all the right things to get himself there.  It's been a pleasure to work with him over the last few weeks & I"m very excited to see him take off this season."

Seguin's passion for not only volleyball, but his studies is merely one of his many admirable qualities.

"I had heard good things about the photojournalism program so I decided to check it out" Sequin says about Loyalist. "I was really impressed with the program's facilities and the professionalism of the professors. Being a part of such a prestigious program automatically makes you want to work really hard to achieve the level of success previous grads have."

With explosive power and an impressive vertical, Seguin's talents and work ethic are set to make a big impact on the team.

Driedger, a 5'11 outside hitter and setter, joins the Lancers after a successful club career with the Aurora Storm. A native of Ajax Ontario, Driedger's abilities as a utility player make him a a big asset to the team.

"Jeremey gives us some flexibility with his ability to excel both as an outside hitter and a setter" Coach Jenkins explains. " His experience and success have create a smooth transition into our systems for him. His work ethic and drive make him extremely coachable and I'm really excited to work with him in the coming weeks".

Driedger is set to join the Journalism: Online, Print & Broadcast program in September but says once he met the Lancer coaching staff, he knew it was the right fit. " I hear about Loyalist's journalism program and liked the smaller feel of the campus. Once I met Chris, it really sealed the deal!"

Coach Jenkins is heading into his third season as at the helm of the Lancers and has consistently improved the program in the short period of time. His hard work in the off season is beginning to pay off. " So far, the team is shaping up to be a very competitive group. With a bunch of new faces mixed in with some key veterans, we should have a pretty solid season. I'm excited to see where the talent of this group can take us."

The men's volleyball team will be holding summer training camps on Sunday July 29th and Sunday August 19th. Contact Coach Jenkins at mensvolleyball@loyalistcollege.com if you're interested in participating.
