LANCERS FALL TO HUSKIES

The Lancers dropped a marque matchup with the 6th ranked George Brown Huskies on Saturday afternoon, 69-57.

Yet again, the Lancers played a very good and aggressive defensive team that held the Lancers to shoot under 28 per cent from the floor and forced 29 turnovers.

The Huskies came out of the gate on fire, as they led by as many 12 in the first quarter but the Lancers woke up and narrowed the led back down to 5 to end the quarter 19-14.

Loyalist couldn't keep up with the Huskies in the second or the third quarter as the lead grew by 13 to end the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw the Lancers outscore the Eagles 19-18 but still ended up losing 69-57.

Returning players Kate Raso and Brittany Mason recorded 30 of their teams' 57 points and combined for 12 rebounds. Raso, who is in her second year with the team, scored a team high 20 points while third year forward Mason followed closely with 10 points. Josee Fillion finished with a career high 17 points and had an incredible night by finishing with a 58.3 shooting percentage from the field.

The Lancers continue to push for a playoff position in the highly competitive east division. The Lancers will host their last regular season game next Friday when they take on the St. Lawrence Vikings at 6 pm.
