On Sunday, September 15, the Loyalist Lancers women's soccer team faced the Seneca Sting in a tough home match, falling 6-0. While the result wasn't what the Lancers hoped for, there were significant strides made from their previous encounter earlier in the week, where they suffered a 9-0 defeat.
One of the key highlights for the Lancers was the outstanding goalkeeping performance by Emily Mealing. Mealing was a standout between the posts, making a number of crucial saves to keep the scoreline more respectable. Her lights-out performance in net kept the Lancers in the game during crucial moments, recording 13 saves in the match.
Though the Lancers were unable to find the back of the net, there were noticeable improvements all across the pitch. The team's defensive structure held strong for longer stretches, and they showed more discipline and organization.
The Lancers will look to carry these positive developments into their next game as they continue to grow as a unit. Despite the loss, the team's effort and determination have laid a foundation for future success.
The team is back in action Wednesday, September 18th at home as they host the 3-0 Algonquin Wolves at 6 PM.
