TAYLO & KEMP NAMED ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

TAYLO & KEMP NAMED ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Nicole Taylo from women's basketball and Owen Kemp from men's volleyball have been named the Freshii Athletes of the Week.

Taylo helped push her team to their first win of the season Friday night when they took down the St. Lawrence Surge 60-55.

With rock-solid defense and an incredible attitude, Taylo, a 5'4" guard from Mississauga, ON, took on the Surge's top player who scored 15 points in the first and held her to only 6 in the entire second half. When given the job, Taylo took her role seriously and stepped up. She worked hard, dug deep, and came through for her team with a big 3-pointer exactly when they needed her. Taylo can always be counted on to make a positive impact on both sides of the ball. Showing tireless commitment to skill and overall development both on and off the court, Taylo sets the tone for work ethic and attitude.

Owen Kemp had a big week for the Lancers. He was instrumental in securing the victory over the Fleming Phoenix at home on Wednesday with a season-high 17-point game. With 15 kills and 2 aces, Kemp was the game's leading scorer and set the tone for their next big match-up against the Durham Lords. Starting the game strong, Kemp added another 12 kills, 2 aces and a block for 15 points in the hard-fought 3-2 loss.

While Kemp's athleticism and offensive abilities are impressive, his on-court leadership and maturity are as important to his team as his ever-growing stat line.
