Erik Anderson

Inducted May 10, 2019

Erik K Anderson was born in Belleville, Ontario on August 11, 1973. He was a local elementary school teacher who immersed himself in the local basketball circles. His passion for the sport was undeniable and he was always looking for ways to improve as a coach. Erik coached at the elementary, high school and club level before taking over the Lancers women’s program halfway through the 2005-2006 season.

His impact was felt immediately. In 2006-2007, his first full year as a head coach with the Lancers, he took his team to the playoffs. Erik instilled in his players a style of defence that made it very difficult for the competition to run their offenses against. His players bought into his philosophy of playing a brand of tough and relentless defence, both as individuals and as team. They never questioned his coaching style and were loyal to the process and the team.

Not satisfied with the success of the previous season Erik recruited hard and built a team that would challenge for provincial supremacy. To date, the 2007-2008 season is the most successful season in Lancer women’s basketball history, seeing the team finishing fourth in the province.

Erik would coach one more season for the Lancers where once again he would guide his team to the playoffs.

Although his coaching tenure was short the impact Erik had on our program was long reaching. He set a standard of recruiting and coaching and a blueprint for success that subsequent coaches have followed.
