ATHLETES OF THE WEEK | Maxwell & Villeneuve

The Athletics Department is proud to announce a new partnership with Freshii Belleville and unveil the newly branded "Freshii Athlete of the Week" award. Each athlete named an Athlete of the Week throughout the 2023-2024 season will receive a free, healthy meal courtesy of our new friends at Freshii Belleville. 

This week, two Lancer golfers are taking home the honours after they competed in the OCAA Provincial Championships October 2nd-4th in Windsor, ON. 

In her second year with the Lancers but first year as a golfer, Kate Maxwell became the first female golfer in program history to complete at the championships and did so in true Lancer fashion. As one of only 8 female golfers in the league, Maxwell was nominated by opposing coaches and golfers and awarded the Championship Fair Play Award. Maxwell showed not only incredibly sportsmanship throughout the entire tournament, she made incredible improvements in her game through perseverance and determination.

Second year golfer Elliot Villeneuve showed tremendous improvement over the course of the 3-day tournament and recorded his best score of the season in his final round. After scoring an 89 on day 1, Villeneuve came back to score 87 on round 2 and then beat his first score by an impressive 10 strokes. After solid results at three tournaments in the season, Villeneuve's score of 79 was his best of the year.
