LANCERS HEAD TO PLAYOFFS ON A 3 GAME WIN STREAK

The Lancers finished off the regular season schedule on a three game win streak after a 3-2 win over the Algonquin Thunder on Saturday at home.

After getting off to a slow start and dropping the first set, the Lancers battled back to take the next two 25-15 and 25-23 before falling just shy in the fourth, leading to an intense fifth and final set.

First year Lancer Jaden Collier got his team off to a great start with a 6 point serving run early in the 5th set. Not willing to go down easily, the Thunder fought to tie the game at 9. From there, it was a nearly point-for-point game that saw both teams leaving everything they had on the court. In the end, the Lancers pull ahead when it counted and secured the victory with a 17-15 decision to take the match 3-2.

First year Lancer Riley Litwiller led the game in scoring with a 19 kills, 4 aces and 2 blocks for an astounding 25 total points. A season high for Litwiller, the outside hitter was dominant in the front row with smart, aggressive attacks while also contributing solid defensive efforts.

Graduating athletes Caleb Seguin, Jaden Collier, Sreeraj MaleckalTrevor Fortier and Josh Roberts were honored for their incredible contributed to the Lancer men's volleyball program in a ceremony before the game. Roberts, who is in his fourth year with the Lancers added 15 points to the game for a career total 804 regular season points.

The Lancers have made a complete turnaround since coming back from the Christmas break in January. After a successful showing in exhibition play over the break, the Lancers took their 3-6 record from first semester and improved to .500 through hardwork, dedication and a no-quit attitude.

Head Coach Chris Jenkins and his staff have crafted the now 9-9 Lancers into an incredibly talented, well oiled machine. Having made huge strides in nearly every aspect of their game, the Lancers only losses in second semester come at the hands of the top three teams in the league - Durham Lords, Canadore Panthers & Georgian Grizzlies. Two of those three losses were heartbreaking 5 set battles that the Lancers came out on top of.

With the regular season now in the books, the Lancers move on to to playoffs for the first time since the 2013-2014 season. The do or die crossover match will played on Saturday February 22nd, with the winner earning a spot at the OCAA Provincial Championships hosted by Fleming College in Peterborough, ON
