WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ADD ALUMNI TO COACHING STAFF
New Head Coach of the women's volleyball program, Ryan Stoness, has solidified another critical piece of the team for the upcoming season.
Stoness has assembled a crew of three former Lancers to round out his coaching staff alongside Assistant Coach Jillian Hoftyzer, who joined the bench when Stoness was first announced as Head Coach in March.
"I am very excited to welcome each these individuals to the Women's Volleyball Coaching Staff" Stoness says of his new crew. "We have assembled a wonderful team of smart volleyball minds and fabulous people. I'm confident that together, we are going to make a great team."
New to the squad but certainly no stranger to the Lancers is local volleyball authority, Randy Orsborne. Orsborne, who played for the Lancers for the duration of his college career, played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the Belleville Ravens when the club first began to take shape. With the Ravens, who participated in the Ontario Volleyball Association, Orsborne coached a number of players who went on to play at the collegiate level, including his daughter, Alicia.
Recent double diploma graduate Alicia Orsborne joins as the team's Strength and Conditioning Coach. Orsborne, who had a standout 3 year career with the Lancers, will be leading fitness programming, testing and focussing on improving athletes mobility, speed, agility and strength. She will also be an instrumental piece of the team's pre and post game nutrition and warm-up and cool down routines for both practices and games.
Also joining the bench as team manager is former Lancer Hannah Dossett. After a season ending injury in the 2018-19 season, Dossett will lend her knowledge and experience to assist in data collection and tracking, scheduling, communications and a host of other responsibilities to support the team.
